The Effect of Dietary Protein and Feed Size on the Assimilation Efficiency of Starlings and Blackbirds
نویسنده
چکیده
Starlings (Sturnus vulgaris) were fed 3 feed sizes and 3 protein levels of swine feeds to determine metabolizable energy and assimilation efficiency. Metabolizable energy (12 kcal/g of diet consumed) and assimilation efficiency (3296 of gross energy intake) were independent of feed size. A 46% crude protein diet was 5196 assimilated and yielded more energy per gram of diet consumed than a 2196 crude protein diet which was only 35% assimilated. Starlings failed to maintain their body weight on a cracked corn diet containing 14% crude protein. Feeding behaviors of starlings due to their assimilation efficiencies are discussed and contrasted with the feeding behaviors sad assimilation efficiences of Icterine blackbirds.

A 56 days grow-out experiment with three protein levels (35, 40 and 45%) and three lipid levels (5, 10 and 15%) was conducted to evaluate the optimum protein and lipid ratio for Oriental River Prawn (Macrobrachium nipponense). Four hundred and five prawns, with mean (± SD) weight of 1.40 ± 0.04 g were distributed in 27 glass aquaria and were fed four times daily. Results showed that interaction...

This study was conducted to determine the optimal dietary protein requirement for lemon fin barb hybrid fingerlings. Triplicate groups of fish (1.00 ± 0.05 g) were fed twice a day until apparent satiation with five isocaloric (16 kJ/g) diets containing varying protein level ranging from 20 to 40% for 60 days. Survival was not affected by the dietary protein level. The weight gain and specific g...

The effect of dietary protein level and feed restriction on performance, body temperature and hematological values was evaluated, using Ross 308 broiler chicks under heat stress. For this purpose, three dietary treatments were fed to broilers during 21 to 42 days of age. Two treatments consisted of diets with protein levels recommended by NRC, 1994 and 85% of NRC recommendation and were fed ad-...
